2014 brings New Partnership

In early 2014, we partnered with the Vietnamese Community of Louisville, Inc., a non-profit organization, to continue our oral history project about Vietnamese-Americans in and around Louisville, Kentucky. From 2009 to 2011, we collected fascinating interviews about the Vietnam War from the perspective of veterans, refugees, and Amerasians. Today, we begin an exciting, new chapter entitled "Discovering Our Community." This chapter will focus on understanding the development of Louisville's Vietnamese Community and the individual and often harrowing journeys from Vietnam to Louisville, KY.

On June 22, 2014, we announced "Discovering Our Community" at an annual Vietnamese veterans event called "Họp Mặt Thường Niên Hội Ái Hữu & Gia Đình" (Annual Meeting for the Association and Families). Moving Voices members Dede Tran, Ngoc Uyen Nguyen, Tam Duong, and Van Tran attended and signed up nearly twenty people for future interviews.

In the coming months, we will post new interviews and archive past interviews online. We will also strive to provide our material in both English and Vietnamese. Please regularly visit our website for updates.

If you would like to volunteer or nominate someone to be interviewed, please contact us at movingvoices.ky@gmail.com.
